Miss December 2012


I have the pleasure and honor of introducing Miss December to the BAV nation.  Not only is she beautiful and smart but she is a warrior as well.  She is the first Sexy Bad Ass Vegan to have been vegan from birth…  Based out the beautiful concrete jungle better known as New York I give to you none other than this month’s BAV, Jehini.

Where do you live and where are you from?  I currently live in Brooklyn, NY but i’m originally from Queens, NY and have also resided in Melbourne, Fl.

Age? 32

What do you do for a living/profession? I am a personal trainer/group instructor and I run the gym in the mornings. My profession is a bodybuilding competitor, I am the only known light weight female bodybuilder.

What do you like to do for fun? What I like doing for fun is traveling, gym hopping, going to different vegan restaurants, gatherings with friends, taking aerial and dance class.

How long have you been vegan?  I’ve been a vegan since birth.

Why did you become vegan?  I became vegan because of my parents.

How was your transition?  I did not have to transition in becoming vegan since I was brought into the world that way so being a vegan was automatic for me.

What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans?  The funniest misconception i’ve heard about vegans at a young age is that they are skinny and have no muscles. Look at me, no one would have ever guessed I would have become a bodybuilder.

 

What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan?  My favorite thing about being a vegan is having bragging rights. I can say that I did not need meat to build my body and I do very well in body building competitions. I placed first at my last show and qualified for the nationals!

What do you think makes a Sexy Bad Ass Vegan?  What makes a Sexy Bad Ass Vegan is one that looks good and feels good. Having a nice healthy build and feeling sexy at the same time. Also knowing that anything is possible having a strong mind and healthy body!!!

What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen?  The best vegan dish that I make in my kitchen is korean mashed potatoes (6 korean potatoes broiled then mashed with 3/4 cup of vanilla soy milk, 2-3 tablespoons of vegan earth balance spread and 3 dashes of salt)  you may have to add a little water to make the potatoes nice and soft. With sauteed tofu and steamed veggies on the side! Half pack of tofu which is about 5-6 slices. After 1 side is browned season with garlic, cayenne, herb dash, cilantro and black pepper. Next steam a cup of broccoli or mixed veggies and put 1-2 table spoons of olive oil and sprinkle salt over and stir.

What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at?  The best vegan restaurant I ever had the pleasure of eating at is (VP2) Vegetarian Paradise 2 that is located in NYC, NY.

What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle?  The advice I have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle is to first make sure your knowledgeable! Making sure you do not become malnourished while transition. Have a balanced diet!!! Get enough protein, complex carbs, vegetables and good fats. Do you research, thats key!!!!!

    I think I’ve seen her in Vegan Health and Fitness? She definitely looks familiar.
