November is coming to an end and you know what that means… Yes it is time for Mr. November. This month I bring to you a close friend who has been making his mark on the bodybuilding platform. He is a perfect example of what it means to be strong in the mind, body and soul. This veteran of the Armed Forces is a great example of how to have compassion for all living things and also display how to be a Bad Ass at the same time. Please help me to congratulate Mr. November 2014… @KorinSutton

Why did you become vegan?
I’m vegan because I truly love life. Each living specie on our planet is amazing and has a complexed and beautiful life to live, and sure enough can experience the world much like we do, to our surprise, which can include thriving or suffering. And I have made it my mission to discourage cruelty and to vouch for life.
How was your transition? My transition was pretty easy. When I decided to become vegan, I went pescaterian for about 2 years. While I was pescaterian I was learning more about veganism and how to live on a pure 100% plant based diet. Since, this was the primary goal and I did not want to fail in this journey. I actually changed my major into exercise science and I was learning a lot more about nutrition and watched multiple documentaries on living a vegan lifestyle. Throughout the two years I was leaning more towards a vegan lifestyle until eventually I was 100% vegan and stopped buying and participating in any type of animal bi-products.
What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans? The funniest misconception that I have ever heard about vegans that we are all mal-nourished and it is impossible to build muscle on a vegan lifestlye. This is why I love being a pro bodybuilder because I love debunking myths about being a vegan.
What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan? The favorite thing I love about being vegan is that everything I’m doing as a vegan is being compassionate towards other life forms. It is a very healthy lifestyle, I feel great, better mental clarity, look amazing, and standing up for something in this world which is right!!!
What do you think makes a Sexy Bad Ass Vegan? I believe what makes me a Sexy Bad Ass Vegan is that I am humble, compassionate, honest, and caring to everyone and everything. I devoted myself into the field of health and fitness because I am a caregiver and want to help everyone and everything. Help changing lives from saving animals to changing a persons lifestyle to a more compassionate way of living makes me Bad Ass!!
What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen?
– 1 large seedless watermelon
– 3 cans coconut or rice whip cream
- 1 cup sliced almonds
- 1 cup shredded coconut
– Seasonal fresh fruit (for topping) blueberries, strawberries, etc.
Directions: Remove the top and bottom from the watermelon and remove the rind from the middle section. You should be left with a cake-shaped piece of watermelon.
Pat the outside of the watermelon dry with paper towels (this is important because it will help the coconut whipped cream adhere better).
Spray the whip cream over the watermelon and use a butter knife to shave and spread the cream evenly. Then pour all the toppings on top of the cake to your desire and wishing.
What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at?
My best (favorite) restaurant so far is Ethos in Orlando, FL.
What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle? The best advice I would say to save the trouble is to connect with another vegan and get a meal plan that will help you transition the right way. I make meal plans for everyone and all of my meal plans are healthy, well balanced, and if you eat meat or seafood I can design it so it can help with the transition. I never expect anyone to go cold turkey, I rather people transition slowly so they will never have a relapse and they can feel the changes slow and smoothly.
