It’s been a while, but we are bringing the Badass Vegan of the month back. And we are kicking off the resurgence of this monthly article with someone that we know you will love. Please help us welcome @angelnicoleworld to the BAV family!

Name:  Angel Nicole

Where do you live and where are you from?   San Jose, CA, USA

Age?   28

What do you do for a living/profession?   I work for the Golden State Warriors

What do you like to do for fun?    I love to write songs and poetry.

How long have you been vegan?   I’ve been vegan for shortly over three years.

.

Why did you become vegan?   I read “Anger, Wisdom for Cooling the Flames” written by Thich Nhat Hanh and it really resonated with me. As a result,I stopped eating meat, and I ultimately decided that I didn’t want to contribute to the harm of any animals.

How was your transition?  The transition to being vegan was an easy one for me. Once I made the decision to change my lifestyle there really was no going back.

What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans?    Some of the most common misconceptions about vegans are that we are extremely protein deficient, and that we only eat grass. Haha

What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan?

My favorite thing about being vegan is knowing that I don’t contribute to the harm of any animals. I also love the way I feel mentally and physically.

What Do you think makes a BadAss Vegan?   I think that a BadAss Vegan is someone who is understanding, compassionate, non-judgemental, with a slight hint of sarcasm.

.What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen?   My favorite dish to cook at home is a chile verde con arroz y frijoles. I’d love to give a recipe, but I let my ancestors do the seasoning, I don’t measure.

What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at?   I have two favorite restaurants. In the Bay Area, my favorite restaurant is The Butcher’s Son. My other favorite restaurant is Equelecua, a cuban restaurant in Inglewood.

What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle?   The best advice that I could give would be to do what you feel is best for you. People are going to have their opinions, and a lot of people are set in their ways. Don’t let that affect your journey.
