And not only is she beautiful but she has the brains to match… She studies Nathuropathic Medicine and Nutrition so she knows her stuff. This Sexy BAV resides in the City Of Angels and not only is vegan for her health but also because of her love for animals. I am so happy to present to you Miss August… Desiree!!
Name: Desiree Samento
Where do you live and where are you from? From the beautiful city of Colorado Springs, CO but now reside in Los Angeles, CA.
Age? 26
What do you do for a living/profession? Manage a Nutrition Store
What do you like to do for fun? Dance! It is something that has always allowed me to express every bit of emotion without words.
How long have you been vegan? Going on 5 years
Why did you become vegan?I study Nathuropathic Medicine and Nutrition and in my studies I found how truly horrible animal products are for the human body and also the cause for so many diseases and illnesses
How was your transition? Very easy. I was a vegetarian before because of the extreme cruelty done to animals. So switching was super simple.
What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans? We all look lethargic, grey and don’t get any protein. Hahaha. I often get the “shocked” look when I tell people I have been vegan for almost five years. They always respond with “but you look so normal” Ha!
What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan? The higher consciousness I have gained. It’s really something that cannot be explained. You truly have an overall higher love for everything.
What do you think makes a Sexy Bad Ass Vegan? Someone who does it for a purpose and not because its trendy What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen?Forbidden Rice Tacos.Nothing is a perfect measurement in my kitchen hahaAll OrganicSoft Corn TortillasHimalayan Salt (to taste)Coconut Oil (to sauté)Forbidden RiceSautéed Onions, Red and Yellow Bell Peppers
Diced Tomatoes
Black Refried Beans
Homemade Salsa (onions, tomatoes, jalapenos and lime juice all in a blender)
Topped with Cilantro and sliced avocados
Absolutely Amazing if I do say so myself
What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at? It’s a tie between Source in San Francisco and Pure Vida in Las Vegas
What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle? Do research and try to find someone who can help guide you. I’ve seen too many times people transitioning and going to high gluten, faux meat and soy intake. I always say, just because it’s vegan doesn’t mean its healthy.
Do you have a website to share with the BAV nation?
