Name:

Daria Deptula but everyone’s been calling me by my IG name MissFit Vegan, so it stuck.

Where do you live and where are you from?

I currently live in Miami, FL but I was born and raised in Poland. Before moving to Miami I lived in Connecticut most of my life.

Age?   32

What do you do for a living/profession?   I am a sales ambassador for Sazerac Company and I’m also a certified Health Coach.

What do you like to do for fun?   I am a nature nut so I love doing anything outdoors, like going on hikes with my puppy, going to the beach, or the park. I also love working out. Yes, I LOVE working out! I consider it my happy hour. I take and teach cardio boxing classes at SobeKick in Miami Beach. It’s one of my favorite workouts.

I also love spending time with friends and family and a great book!

How long have you been vegan?  It will be a little over 6 months now.

.

Why did you become vegan?   I became a vegan for the health benefits after watching “Forks Over Knives”. Then one documentary led to another, which led to YouTube videos, articles, etc. As all the info sank in, it really impacted my life on an emotional level. That’s when I realized I wasn’t just doing it for my health, but also for the animals and our environment.

How was your transition?  It was actually fairly easy for me. My belief system was so shook up by all the information I researched that I didn’t have to fight any urges.

I did have a few minor slip ups in the beginning, like having ice cream with dessert while out with friends, but each slip up was a learning experience. I didn’t beat myself up over it.

What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans?    That all we eat is grass and vegetables! It’s funny because now that I’m vegan, my meals are so much more colorful and have a variety of foods that I didn’t think to eat before. Eating Vegan is just so much more fun!

What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan?

image1It impacted my life physically, mentally, and spiritually. It’s made me stronger, more energetic, and fit. I didn’t realize how much energy my body was using to digest the crap I was eating before.

My mind’s also become more at peace, more clear, and focused. I feel like a brand new person!

It feels amazing knowing that I am saving animals lives and helping our environment on a daily basis with one simple lifestyle change.

What Do you think makes a Bad Ass Vegan?   Someone who uses their voice to spread awareness and leads by example.

.What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen?  The most recent one I made and fell in love with is the sweet potato brownies! My sweet tooth is off the charts so when I found this recipe I was in heaven. I make them two ways, either as protein brownies, or regular cocoa brownies.

The recipe:

1 cup mashed sweet potato

½ cup smooth butter (almond or cashew)

¼ cocoa powder (or plant based chocolate protein powder as alternative)

2 tbsp of maple syrup

Sooo good!

What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at?   So far, no restaurant has beat Choices Café in Miami. That’s my favorite right now.

What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle?   Do as much research on the benefits of this lifestyle as possible. Watch documentaries, read articles, follow vegan social media accounts, read books, etc. Try meat substitutes if you find yourself missing meat. Google and try out different recipes, and don’t beat yourself up if you slip up here and there!
