Where do you live and where are you from? born and bred in Detroit, Michigan
Age? 45
What do you do for a living/profession? I am an Artist and I work at a college of art as a recruiter and Detroit Institute of Arts as an Educator
What do you like to do for fun? Hang with the people I love, go to art exhibition openings and support those in my creative community.
Why did you become vegan? Health reasons related to genetics I had been vegetarian for over 15years so it was an easy transition and I wanted to heal my body with food
How was your transition? Pretty Easy
What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans? ‘Black folks aren’t vegan’ and ‘you need meat to live’ GTFOH!!
What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan? When people ask me what I eat I respond ‘Food’ then I answer with the many choices I have.
What do you think makes a Sexy Bad Ass Vegan? Ain’t nobody got time for that! I want to be a beacon in my community for my 3 Birth Children and then the Earth Children I call my own. I hope to live beyond 45 years. If it is beautiful on the inside then it has to shine on the outside~ a balance of respect for my temple, and the Spirit makes me happy and allows me to believe I am smart and sexy.

What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen? Black Eyed Pea Fritters by Bryant Terry online and in his book Vegan Soul Kitchen
What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at? Seva & GoodWells in Detroit, Ethos in Orlando Fl, S’Nice in Park Slope/Brooklyn NY
What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle? Get medical advice, know your blood type and family medical history and take it slow have fun and find other vegans in your community. Try planting a small garden if you have space or share one raised bed in your community. Try to shop at a local farmers market. Try a meatless week day first then a week then 15days and so forth. It takes 30 days to form a habit.
