This month’s Sexy Bad Ass vegan is the brilliant and talented Ron Prasad. Ron has been a voice for the animals and has a heart of gold. He has led rallys to defend animal welfare from time to time or you may catch him winning a Toastmasters competition. While Ron is a great Public Speaker, his actions speak louder than any words he would ever say. We are glad to have him a part of the Sexy Bad Ass Vegan community. Name: Ronny Prasad
Where do you live and where are you from? Melbourne, Australia
What do you do for a living/profession? Author & Speaker (motivate, inspire, encourage).
What do you like to do for fun? Exercise (running, boxing, body weight training), playing guitar, and volunteering for animal rights/vegan charities!
How long have you been vegan? 2 years
Why did you become vegan? I was a vegetarian (lacto) for 14 years prior to becoming a vegan. Once I started volunteering for animal rights organizations, I realized the cruelty in the dairy industry, and I become a passionate vegan!
How was your transition? My transition was very simple because I only had to cut out dairy, which I consumed in minimal amounts anyway. Now, I am eating more raw foods!
What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans? The funniest one that I have heard is “You are vegan, and you are still alive”? Somehow, some people think that we need meat to stay alive!
What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan? My constant goal is to be a role model for non vegans! If I can prove it to them that living a compassionate life is possible for anyone, I feel that I am leading by example. Also, I love my vegan mindset. Being a vegan is not just about my diet, or my lifestyle. It is about my mindset, which tells me that every decision that I make on a daily basis, comes from a place of compassion for the animals!
What do you think makes a Sexy Bad Ass Vegan? I am also a fighter for the animals, and it does not concern me about what type of people I am up against. Currently, in the state of Victoria (Australia), the duck shooting season has been extended. I will fight for these animals, knowing that the hunters and the state government are against me. Being an animal activist makes me a vegan by default!
What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen? This is a bit on the ‘spoil yourself side’. I love baking vegan banana cakes. The recipe is so simple (sorry for the Australian measurements): 450grams wholemeal self raising flour 2 large sized ripe bananas (mashed) 100mls water 100mls vegetable oil Bake for 40 minutes on 160 degrees C
What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at? There are many vegan restaurants in Melbourne, as we are known to be the vegan capital of the Southern Hemisphere. There is a restaurant called Yong Green Café, who serve vegan and raw foods! I love going there with my vegan brothers and sisters!
What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle? To anyone who is looking at becoming a vegan, my advice to them is that the transition is more mental than physical! If your mindset supports your decision to go vegan, you will do it easily! Just think about the benefits to your health, the positive effects to the environment, and the compassion that you show towards the animals!
