Name: André AKA UnhealthyVegan
Where do you live and where are you from? Fontana, California, United States
Age? 25 years old.
What do you do for a living/profession? I’m currently working at a grocery store in the produce department but I’m a quarter away from getting my teaching credential to teach elementary school.
What do you like to do for fun? I love to eat and watch movies. Netflix and Grub. I also love to play basketball on my free time.
.How long have you been vegan? This May it will be a five years!
Why did you become vegan? My college professor had a presentation about the ethics of eating animals and I just sat there and I learned so much. That day I decided to go vegan and I never looked back.
How was your transition? Well after I decided to go vegan the day of the presentation, I decided to eat out the fridge while I was trying vegan things. So I finished all the nasty beef frozen burritos while trying all the frozen vegan burritos. Then on May 21st, 2011, I had my last meat meal, which was a double bacon cheeseburger in San Diego. After that I was vegan and I was able to transition easily because I already had a good idea about which vegan brands were good.
What is the funniest misconception(s) that you have heard about vegans? The funniest misconception that I’ve heard about vegans is that we eat salads. I mean, who eats salads?
What is your Favorite thing(s) about being a vegan? Knowing that my actions and beliefs are one in the same.
What do you think makes a Bad Ass Vegan? Someone who doesn’t care about what others think.
What is the best vegan dish that you make in your kitchen? I think my best dish is the UnVcMuffin. It’s two grilled cheeze English muffins with a hash brown patty, sausage patty, and tofu egg patty all drenched in ketchup.
.
What is the best Vegan Restaurant you have ever had the pleasure of eating at? This is really a hard question; it’s like answering who is your favorite kid. But overall, I would have to say Seabirds Kitchen in Orange County, California. I rarely get a dish that I don’t like from there.
What advice do you have for those that are thinking of transitioning to a vegan lifestyle? Just do it already. The longer you wait, the more excuses you will get stuck in your head. It is really easy to do. You are not losing anything. I always tell people before I was vegan I would eat double cheeseburgers and pizza. Now that I’m vegan I eat double cheezeburgers and pizza. The biggest change in your life won’t require any change. Instead of grabbing the red Doritos bag, you grab the purple Doritos (Sweet Chili) bag.
